Seaford Rugby Club was founded in 1938, sadly however being forced to close during the Second World War. The club was fortunate to have dedicated and loyal members who worked hard to get the club re-opened in 1951, before moving to its current location at the Salts Recreational Ground in the early seventies. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength; Seaford RFC now runs two Senior teams, the first team in Sussex Spitfire 1 league and the seconds in Sussex 2 East, and Junior teams for under 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15, and also a Colts team Despite the growth of the club, as with any sports club, Seaford has a continual need to recruit new players across the teams. The Senior teams range from 18 years of age to some dedicated players still battling on the field in their fifties! The Juniors cater for under 6’s up to 18 years. Seaford have recently been awarded the RFU Seal of Approval for the Junior sector and are now developing this to incorporate the whole club. The RFU Seal of Approval is an accreditation programme used as a method of examining, maintaining and improving the provision. As part of the Seal of Approval, Seaford RFC has a development plan for both the Juniors and whole club to ensure continued growth and improvement of the players and the club. Seaford is looking to recruit new players for each team, with a particular need in the Seniors for front row players. Senior training takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm, at the Salts, with games taking place on Saturday afternoons. Training incorporates not only tactics and match play but also fitness, with qualified coaches running the sessions. A physiotherapist is also at hand for fitness sessions. Previous rugby experience is obviously beneficial, but not necessary, as the training sessions and support of the other players will ensure you are comfortable in learning the sport.
